Granted, selling your precious car to a retailer will always hurt more than selling to an end-user. However, sometimes it simply makes sense to accept a reasonable offer from a specialist who knows your car brand and has the contacts to sell it. And yes, the retailer needs to make a living too.

I tried unsuccessfully to sell my excellent Jaguar XK Cabrio privately. But some cars are not commodities. They require a special touch. Marc convinced me of that - and the fact that in two months of trying on Autotrader, no offer was forthcoming. A rather off-handed and lacklustre contact by the original retailer who sold the car to me did not warrant further exploration.

MPM Ltd were professional, easy to deal with and did what they said they’d do. As the offer was made blind, there could have been opportunity on sight of the car to get started on shenanigans about this and that not being right. That was an unnecessary worry. The offer stood, and the car changed hands after the funds arrived in my bank account.

My advice would be: be straight with MPM, and they’ll be straight with you. All around an excellent experience.

The car was described as being 'Exceptional' - words like this are used too frequently to describe only average cars. However after reviewing the extensive high resolution images and detailed description on MPM's website it became clear that maybe this was an exceptional car after all. Although it was late in the evening I was keen to learn more so I enquired via MPM's website. I was so impressed that I agreed a deal to buy the car over the phone and paid a deposit subject to viewing the car. A few days later I made the 420 mile round trip to see the car which was exactly as described and really was exceptional. The car was immaculately presented and under a cover – attention to detail like this is very rare. We concluded the deal and I arranged to pick up the car two days later. Marc arranged to tax the car for me and to fit 'privacy glass'. When we collected the car it was ready and waiting for us with all the paperwork and documentation ready.

There was no pressured selling, instead letting the car sell itself with a very long test drive which took in all types of roads from dual carriageways to forest lanes to high streets and housing estates.
